SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO PROPERLY WIRE THIS PRODUCT
Our 7-pin trailer connector is wired for left/right turn signals, brake/running lights, back-up lights, and ground. The connector is pre-wired for the addition of auxiliary power and electric brake related devices. If you would like to add these additional circuits, the wiring pigtails are located within the first 6' of the wire loom just behind the 7 pin connector mounting box.
You must adhere to proper wiring procedures or you will void factory and trailer wiring harness warranties. SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO PROPERLY WIRE THIS PRODUCT. Because of the sensitive wiring circuitry used on the Sprinter, a trailer-wiring converter is required. The wiring designations are found on the face of the converter. Do not solder connections when connecting the trailer wire harness into the factory harness.
Carefully cut open about 6 – 8' of the black electrical tape covering the factory harness, see figure 1 and separate the wires. Following the wiring color code information below, use the supplied quick splice connectors to connect into the factory wire harness. We recommend probing and testing circuits before connecting. Using the connector provided, attach the white ground wire from the converter to the body grounding stud, see figure 2. Once the connectors are in place, test circuits to verify your that wiring and connections are complete. Use electrical tape to recover the quick splice connectors and factory wire harness. Seal the harnesses as best as possible to protect the area from moisture and debris. Using the supplied pull ties, secure the trailer wire harness and converter to existing factory harnesses.
File multi tool 6 2016. On 07 and newer Sprinter Vans, you will need to run wiring through the driver's rear floor pan and up to the tail lamp assembly. You may want to consider using a body grommet to route wiring to lamp. Using the wire coding below and the basic procedures outlined above, connect the converter wiring into the lamp assembly circuits.
